Metzer · Micro-Vickers Hardness Testers
Metzer Micro-Vickers hardness testers combine controlled indentation with optical measurement of the impression. They support testing where the location of each indentation matters, allowing a prepared section to be evaluated at selected points. The test force, specimen preparation and spacing of impressions must suit the material feature and test method.
Micro-Vickers testing is useful for localised hardness evaluation and sequences of measurements across a prepared section, where specimen dimensions and the required method permit.

Answers to common questions about micro-vickers hardness testers.
What does a Micro-Vickers tester measure?
It determines hardness from an indentation made under a selected force and measured optically. The force and impression dimensions are used in the hardness calculation.
Is an automatic turret a fully automated tester?
No. An automatic turret changes between indenter and objectives. Automated positioning, focusing, impression measurement and reporting are separate capabilities.
Why is surface preparation important?
The impression edges must be visible for optical measurement. Surface condition and preparation can influence whether a small impression can be measured reliably.
What information is needed to choose a tester?
Specify the material, specimen thickness, required test forces, indentation pattern and reporting needs. Include the expected number of tests and desired automation.
